In the traditional Dervishe dance the participants are men dressed in long white robes with wide round skirts. They hold their hands in the air and rotate around their axis, creating a beautiful and harmonious movement. An important element of this dance is the symbolism of rotation, which represents the search for divine truth and unity with God.

It is usually accompanied by music, and the performance itself is a form of meditation and spiritual attainment. The rotation of the dervishes also symbolises the rotation of the planets and the turning of the earth on its axis, calling for inner centering and harmony.
